The playence platform is able to natively handle all types of content (i.e. Video, Audio, Text and pictures) regardless of the format and source. If features cutting edge automated metadata generation, management and enrichment facilities, being able to seamlessly handle speech transcripts, time-stamped tags, categories/topics, named entities, taxonomies and information maps. In addition to that, it offers advanced integration, administration and security mechanisms to ensure the precise level of customization and access level across the organization.

Sources

The playence platform has been designed to deal with very large volumes of heterogeneous structured (i.e. metadata, XML, financial records, etc.) and unstructured (i.e. rich media, pdf, doc, email, etc.) information, regardless of its format. The ultimate goal is to provide transparent and reliable access to information regardless of the format used to codify it.

Content Ingestion

The versatile connectors layer provides a powerful API to seamlessly interface with and access information assets residing in a great variety of systems, such as Content Management Systems (CMS), Digital Asset Management (DAM) or Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Databases, or life streams. Whether through pull or push mechanisms, the connectors layer guarantees that the information available in the system is the up to date according to the policy defined.

Once accessible, rich media assets undertake transcoding, Speech-to-Text, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and logo recognition, with the aim of extracting as much information from the asset as possible. Our platform has the capacity to process and ingest millions of hours of content with near real time process times. Text assets are ingested and processed with sub-second response time.

The ultimate goal is to provide transparent and reliable access to information regardless of the source.

Annotation

Once in textual format and employing cutting-edge contextualization and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology, playence is able to unambiguously identify the most relevant entities (e.g. names of persons, products, organizations, locations, quantities, monetary values, etc.) and relationships living in structured and unstructured assets. As a result we are able to produce reliable and meaningful tags and metadata in an automated fashion, bringing structure to plain text documents, audios and videos.

In addition to that, playence is able to automatically enrich metadata with information residing outside the organization such as the Wikipedia or DBpedia, or other information silos within the organization, such as LDAPs. This enriched metadata is added to the system resulting in a richer and more dynamic search experience.

Search and Browsing

playence’s search and browsing facilities ease information access regardless of the format and location of the data. They provide the means to dynamically filter and refine search results, and visually navigate the information space. Our offer expands traditional key-word search complementing it with contextual, faceted, cross language and in-asset search across multimedia content. In addition to that, playence’s conceptual search puts in place the means to search using fully fledge expressions and phrases in natural language. Through advanced browsing users are able to visually navigate the repository exploiting the underlying structure of the information map to refine their queries.

Faceted Search

The expressivity and recall of contextual search is combined with the precision to narrow the result set provided by faceted search.
