playence was conceived by Katharina Siorpaes and Sinuhe Arroyo in 2008. From the initial idea of utilizing casual social games to semantically annotate multimedia Web resources, the company has evolved towards a complete product offer which, using Semantic and Word-spotting technologies as foundation, puts in place a complete solution for the annotation, management, integration and search, also in-video, of multimedia assets (i.e. Video, audio and pictures).

Dr. Sinuhe Arroyo Chief Executive Officer As CEO of playence, Sinuhe Arroyo is responsible for the sales, marketing and finance of the company. Prior to joining playence, Sinuhe worked as Corporate Development Manager at phion AG. While at phion, Sinuhe completed the acquisition of Visonys AG and successfully established new business partnerships internationally. Prior to phion he worked at DERI as project manager, participating in various world-class research projects that sat the foundations of Semantic Technology and acquiring various million Euros in funding. Prior to DERI Sinuhe worked at iSOCO S.A., contributing, already in 2002, to one of the first commercial Semantic Web projects world-wide. Sinuhe brings more than 10 years of technology industry experience and extensive business and operational background to playence. Dr. Katharina Siorpaes Chief Scientific Officer Katharina is responsible for research and product innovation at playence. Before co-founding playence, Katharina has had over 5 years of experience in research on semantic technologies with a strong focus in idea incubation. José Manuel López Cobo, MSc Chief Technology Officer José Manuel (Ozelin) is playence's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) responsible for development and product management. Ozelin brings to playence more than 10 years of experience in commercial software projects for large customers applying Semantic Technologies as well as other Innovation oriented activities. Before joining playence Ozelin worked for XimetriX where he was responsible for the commercial exploitation semantic based products in the field of the Annotation and Information Retrieval. Previously, Ozelin has been participating in companies like iSOCO and Atos Origin where he was deeply involved in technical developments and research oriented projects, leading large teams of developers and consultants. Silvestre Losada, BsC Chief Software Architect As CSA Silvestre is responsible for software architectural and design. Previously, he had a successful career as an architect for semantic search engines and service oriented architectures, holding positions at iSOCO and Ximetrix Network Thougths. Silvestre has been architecting sofware on a global scale for over 10 years and is a recognized thought leader in the area of Semantic web, Semantic Web Services, Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management.
